Looking for some criticism

Looking at lbriefs ad, my only two suggestions would be:

1) make sure the text is aligned on the left; the "Software Upgrades" in particular doesn't appear to be flush left with the other "bulleted" points

2) you may or may not want a larger focused "tag line" -- one sentence/slogan to draw people in.

Otherwise, it's a GREAT ad, and will look nice in b/w or color.

Now there's your ad! That's great! I'd leave it alone (i.e. no logo). That's not to say, though, that you don't need a logo. You'll still need to decide on one: you know... for bumper stickers, t-shirts, coffee mugs, the sides of busses, blimps, etc...

Agreed 100% -- but he does have a logo in there, I think. It looks like the beannie logo with the beannie cropped out.

Nice job lbrief!

Oh. You're right! And it looks great. It's got my vote. Nice job guys.

As promised, my friend did some additional designs for you. These are all more serious in nature. Out of them, I think the strongest designes are the { ones (b/w and color) and the all lower-case "dwfcomputers" logos.

The top "[dwf]computers" logo is okay I guess, just doesn't do much for me. The rest don't do anything for me either. The second one from the bottom on the left looks like there's an H carved out of the black block, which just looks weird to me. If it were the D from DWF that were carved out of the block, it might look interesting, though.

Not bad! My fav is the second from the bottom and on the right. For some reason the lowercase "dwf" makes me think of shorthand for "dwarf"!? I don't know why. Maybe because of all of the recent Lord Of the Rings talk. I actually kind of like the top one too, [DWF]COMPUTERS. I'm not sure why.

Man, those are pretty sweet. I'd have to say out of those, my favorite is the one with the 1 blue and 2 green blocks (3rd from bottom on the left). What would you think about making the DWF a bolder (thicker) font? Something to make a little more impact. What about making the blocks have the appearance of circuit boards? But, if possible, keep the colors. I don't know - We all know I have no artistic talent, I need some help here!

Carrie likes the 2 on top and the 2 with lower case DWF's. I like those, but I think I'm leaning more towards a squarish logo - not something really long or really tall.

Anyone else? Does anyone think these are better then the one's in the poll?

Dave ;)

Dave: I passed along your comments to her. As for the circuit board idea, it might work, but you don't want to get too detailed/carried away, I think. May ruin the strong clean lines of the logo design.

That said, I actually did up some mockups of my own tonight; they could be executed better, I just roughed them up real quick, but you'll get the idea. Feel free to tear 'em apart, cuz these I actually made myself in 15 minutes or so.

Of the 2nd set, I like the lower right best, but I think I still like the previous set better.

My favorite as well.

"the one with the 1 blue and 2 green blocks "

That one is pretty nice. It would look good on otehr promotional items, as well as in advertisements.

The prominent inverse-space H in those bothers me -- but hey, if Dave likes it, that's what he should pick!

I think this logo is like one of those ink-blot deals. You see an "H" (and now that you point it out, I can see it too). But, when I first saw this version, I interpreted it as an artistic representation of a computer mouse (fat body, two "clickers").

Anyway that Dave decides to go, you and your friend went all out and deserve alot of praise. Way to go Moki. :)

Interesting concept with the circuit board idea but not producable on silkscreening or ebroidery for shirts. I still like the Big blue two little green icon several post back.
