Looking to try some new beer

I am a lager fan and I've never had anything that wasn't a lager, to my knowledge. I want to broaden my beer horizons with a little CP help. What I was thinking was possibly a cash/cigar for beer trade. Or if anyone has any other ideas let me know. I really want to try Young's Chocolate Double Stout ever since I saw some CP'ers talking about it. Other than that I have no clue what I want to try.

Any help for a beer noob???

It might help if we got a sense of what you like in general, then start from there.

Or perhaps a list of beers you have tried and liked/disliked then we could suggest something in the general realm of taste/flavor.
