I have been eyeing this wine for quite some time, but I never purchased a bottle until this past weekend when I found it for $8 on sale. So, I figured why not give it a try.
Upon pouring, the first thing that strikes me is that the wine clings to the side of the glass as though I was pouring honey instead of wine. This characteristic along with it's brilliant ruby color made for a wonderful visual. Once in the glass, the color was so intense, it seemed to dance when it was swirled.
On the nose, I was overwhelmed with aromas of black cherry, strawberry and plum. It is an intensely aromatic wine.
Upon tasting, I was pleasantly surprised by the flavors of plum, chocolate and black currant. The texture of the wine matched the pouring experience as it seemed to coat the inside of my mouth. The finish was also a pleasant surprise as it was long and rather peppery like that of a Shiraz.
I was very surprised by this wine, and I truly enjoyed it. One of the better Cabs I have tried, and with the $8 price point, hard to beat. I would rate this wine 90-92 points (imho).
