Back when I was building my Sportster bobber, I remember sitting at a red light here in town when in the next, empty lane a car with no visible driver behind the wheel flashed past me, brakes squealing, clear into the middle of the intersection. Then started BACKING UP. Still with NO DRIVER VISIBLE. Stops more or less behind the line. Driver pops up, CELL PHONE IN HAND.

Apparently she'd dropped it, ducked down to get it, THEN noticed the red light ahead. And all I could think of is "what if I'd been in THAT lane? On my Sportster?"
