I can't wait.....another astronomical event where the guys come out.... some play with their expensive telescope equipment, and others smoke the stress away! Leonids later next month and Saturn coming to opposition in December.

hey thanks, gp! leebo told me about this last night, but i do appreciate the heads up. astronomical events don't generate a lot of excitement around here, but i'm really into it, so i do appreciate it. (i started as a 'rocket science' student at penn state back in the day 'til i switched to EE) i probably have an email about this from spaceweather.com, but haven't checked that account lately.

hmm, speaking of rocket science, read something interesting recently. anyone know what travels faster than the speed of light?

I assume that you're speaking (writing) of the laser light pulses through cesium vapor. ... I do not doubt it, but I’m remaining skeptical until I see backup experimentation. There are often attempts to change theoretical sciences. Many are later proven to be false trials. :(

Even thought I'm a UCONN grad (Mechanical Engineering) I'm a HUGE PSU football fan. I used to visit Happy Valley quite often back in the 1980's what a great school.

The moon is full right now isn't it? I watched the last lunar eclipse on a beautiful clear, cool spring night earlier this year, smoking a cigar sitting in the lawn chair.
 
:( Gonna be too cloudy here in Texas tonight :(

But I will take some good smokes out and watch for it just in case, who knows, Maybe I can talk LuckyDawg into making the 90 minute trip to join me.

I am still gonna go out and watch the drizzle fall with a mid level smoke. Too humid to smoke a good one ???

Hmm. That seems like a strange thing to say: to compare a force to a velocity. Velocity is the product of force; how can the two be compared? It is like saying that gas is faster than a car. I'm not doubting the idea. I'm just naive to the concept. I'm exciting to see the link that you provided.
 
hey, glad you liked it! i thot it was an interesting article. i'm sure once gravity is finally figured out, a unified theory will be soon to follow. i've read related articles that suggest that this could make movement at the speeds they're indicating in the article possible, and if it is, interstellar travel would be no problem.

Actually, I haven't read it yet. I'll give it a go tomorrow (hopefully). For now though, I don't want to get into an article of that caliber on a belly full of beer.
