Yep, you heard it right and it's now on the shelves at selected Costco locations. They used to carry it in 18 for $69 which was an absolute steal as well but I'm still more than happy to pick up the 15 for the same price as the regular Mac 12 retails for. When deals like this come up I feel the need to spread the word.

So what does the Kirkland brand do for the taste? Don't get me wrong, I love me some Costco, but curious as to if there are any taste differences to getting the real thing.

Don't let the Kirkland logo on the bottle throw you off, this is 100% Macallan. Amazing Mac let them keep their name on the label. Normally it's just the Kirkland logo like they have on the "Kirkland Vodka" which is bottled with identical vodka as Grey Goose and the same bottling facility as well. I actually did a taste test tonight and compared it with the Mac 12 & 18.I was really stuck on differentiating it from the 18 and definitely found it much better than the 12. It's the real dealio and a fantastic bargain. Hope they bring the Kirkland 18 back again.

I've had it (the 18) and have to agree with most of the reviews. It isn't that good. Do a search for it and you'll see what others are saying.

Edit for clarity.

Exactly the post I was waiting for: An AVB approval/disapproval.

Thank you, sir.

Well, I bit. Went to Costco after work and saw the 15 on the shelf for $50 bucks. Took it home and tried it out. I'll admit I am not much of an expert when it comes to reviewing anything. My experiences are with the 12 in sherry and 17 in fine oak. I felt that the essence of Macallan was there, but it was much lighter and sweeter than I expected. I guess I was looking for a 12 in sherry with a bit more refinement, but wasn't the case for my palate.

Do I recommend it? Well I'm going to have to make a larger dent in the bottle before a judgement can be made. :whistling:

I'm surprised you felt that way but scotch is very subjective. All I drink is Mac and mostly 18 so I'm pretty in tune with the qualities of the 12-25 range ( more sherry than fine oak). You really have to do a blind test as I have found your mind always gives one a sub-conscience edge when you know what you are tasting. I did my test that way the other night with the 12, costco 15 and 18. There were slight variants in the sherry and smoke qualities but over all I did enjoy the 15 over the 12. Of course cask variants and years always impact your final product. Besides all the particulars I still believe it to be a decent deal.

Hmm... My dad works at the Costco in Bozeman MT. Plus his discount, it ought to be a pretty good deal. Think I'll give him a call!
