Manny being Manny

This is the part that cracks me up:

Testing positive in spring training for a female fertility drug that is used by steroid users to restore testosterone production to normal levels, the 36-year-old Ramirez received a 50-game ban, costing him $7.7 million of his $25-million salary and the Dodgers a potent middle-of-the-lineup bat that took them to their first National League Championship Series in 20 years.

Then he has the unmitigated chutzpah to tell reporters "his doctor mistakenly prescribed something that had been added to the banned list only recently."

Prescribed it for WHAT, Manny? You tryin' to get pregnant?

Bigger question: "used by steroid users to . . . " ???

How come he never got popped for THAT? The only logical reason he'd be taking what he got popped for would be that he's been slamming 'roids so long his own testosterone production shut down.

And that's the reason why he didn't go to a team doctor.

This should come to no surprise to anyone. As much as I think Conseco is a jerk he has been right. And if he has been right all along then 75-80% of players were using it at one time or another. There are still players doing hgh. Why the big outrage on baseball players? Football players take the stuff yet when caught there is no big public out cry. Cheating is cheating period. How long have "greenies" been used in baseball many decades and that also is a PED.

Throwing spitballs or using corked bats also help you gain a big advantage. Manny was stupid for being caught. This problem will not go away. The steriods may but with the amount of money and huge ego's involved science will always develop a new way to gain a edge. People will do some pretty nasty stuff for a few hundred or thousands of dollars. A athlete taking something to gain a edge for millions of dollars should not surprise anyone.
