Mark Fidrych Found dead

Boy, what a shame. He was way to young.

I remember seeing him at the old Met Stadium in Bloomington MN back in 76. I also remember something crazy happening, so I googled it and found this: "Commissioner Bowie Kuhn fined Fidrych $250 for using an obscenity on television after being asked if he was about to cry in a losing performance. To break his phenomenal run, the Minnesota Twins released 13 pigeons on the field on Fidrych's 13th start, on July 20. It didn't deter him, as he won 8-3 to boost his record to 11-2."

Very sad news. For those of us dyed in the wool baseball fans, players like The Bird were the backbone of entertainment on the diamond. There are some players now that have some cool habits to watch but they are all too rare compared to the 70s.

I remember the 1976 season, he was one of the most entertaining pitchers ever to play the game. RIP Mark "the bird" fidrych.
