funny, some of my friends who went to cook county jail referred to it as yale, must be referring to the school of hard knocks. sort of feel bad for martha seeing as how imo she did'nt do much, but that's just me.

she was a stock broker in her younger years, she knew exactly what she was doing. insider trading is a huge no no in the stock business, and for a person to make a few hundred grand (in comparison to her muti-million dollar empire) is stupid. she is lucky people like her and is springing back with t.v. and advertisers.

you're right, that was stupid, but some people have done worse and got a slap on the wrist, comparitively speaking.

agreed sack

Some close family friends (well not anymore) lied on there taxes for 7 years. Government took them to court and they offered to plead guilty and pay out 1. something million, and the government said no... Now they are sending there 80s under house arrest! Nice people, but if you ask me, they got off easy.

You mean besides committing perjury and impeding a Federal Investigation. I think she would not have gotten time just for making the sale, but the deception was what got her.

My business law professor would agree with you wholeheartedly. He has made the case that its usually not what you do that America will bust you for but that we won't stand for a cover up. Makes a pretty convincing case for it.

Yep that is exactly it. She was LUCKY they did not tack on the insider trading to the aforementioned crimes she was found guilty of. Feel bad if you like but she was lucky and had a relatively light sentence. Most other people would still be in jail for what she did . . . and thats a good thing. :p

It's just hard to feel bad for someone who has a few hundred million in assets.

compared to the tyco boys she's small potatoes, and i hope they rot in jail! :angry2:
