Well, maybe not all THAT fearsome. But he is Good Dog Henry.

'Bout five years old, shelter mutt, best dog I've ever known. My best friend and his family up in San Antonio adopted him a couple years ago---he'd been part of a litter of pups dropped off at the shelter, adopted by someone while still a puppy, then brought back because he "jumped up on things."

Spent the next year or so of his life in a 2' X 3' shelter cage until my buddy rescued him. :(

He's been my "surrogate dog" whenever I visited, and just a great little guy. I love dogs but haven't had one for a long time because I've been living in apartments, and I firmly believe dogs need yards to run in, even if they're spoiled couch-napping little house dogs like Henry.

But . . . now I'm in a house. And Good Dog Henry, after being the only dog in his house, was feeling more than a little stressed and invaded these days---my buddy's wife needed a BIG service dog (Great Dane!) for her mobility issues, and they took on a co-housing couple with MORE dogs . . . and Henry was feeling crowded out and forlorn and pushed around, going from center of attention to smallest dog in a pack.

So they asked if he could come home with me.

Great addition to the family! We were adopted by two strays when we moved into our house about 4 years ago. One is a lab and one is part husky with one blue eye and one brown eye. They are part of our family now...or we are part of theirs...

Nice play!

This is my "good dog" Sadie. When she was a puppy, some sub-human life form decided to drive out into the desert and dump her off. Friends of mine rescued her and nursed her back to health but they already had another dog who didn't take too kindly to the intrusion. So, we took her in fours years ago and she is our surrogate "daughter" now.

Great looking pup! Nothing like having a dog around to hang out while your torching a nice stick. Here's my 3.5 month old pup Tebow at dog beach yesterday...they get big so fast!
