Unfortunately, many of those not directly affected seem to forget the true meaning of memorial day.
I will be spending mine laying memorial wreaths on the headstones of soldiers, and my recently departed family members, buried at Houston's Veteran cemetery.
Unfortunately so many have not only forgotten the true meaning of Memorial Day, but also the true meaning of Christmas, Easter and Thanksgiving. Most see it as just another day to celebrate...
I was very proud today to lead my middle school band kids in performing during our school's first Memorial Day ceremony. The school just installed a beautiful memorial granite bench in front of the school engraved with the names of two fine young marines who went through the school system and who tragically lost their lives serving the country they loved. Today was the dedication. I have never seen the entire school population observe with such reverence the meaning of today. I was very proud and thankful to be there.
Thank you to all of our service men and women who have made the ultimate sacrifice and thank you to those of you who continue to serve our country so that we may live the lives we do today.
