Need some advice on places to stay in Minneapolis. I've heard that the Graves 601 hotel is nice, but wanted to get some other opinions.

Trip is for pleasure.

Also any opinions on restaurants (particular steakhouses) and good cigar shops would be great.

TIA!!!

Graves $$$$$. Other places: might sound nutso, but they just redid the suites at the Best Western Normandy Inn. That's def the best bang for your buck right now, and it's not a NoTell Motel.

Restaurant: Fogo de Chao (Brazilian Steakhouse, you won't regret that, but $$$$)
Ikes (try a burger here, very good, must like onions though)
Bombay Bistro (if you like Indian, try their lunch buffet)
Pazzaluna (my favorite Italian, St. Paul though and $$$$)

B&M: Golden Leaf (that's the only worthwhile cigar shop in Minneapolis). Others are scattered around and about.

ETC: If you're going to the Mall, hop the light rail for a couple bucks. Last stop is the Mall.
Coming and going from the airport, again hop the light rail. It's completely safe, no b.s., probably as fast as a cab.
The Walker Art Center is downtown, was just revamped and is very nice. Always something good going down there.
Vikings are playing the Packers this weekend, tickets for that are probably 3 bills by now.

Let me know if you need anything else.

Rick's Cabaret - 300 3rd Avenue North, Minneapolis, MN.

Not that I have ever been. :whistling: ;)

You're a trip MC. Rick's is across the street from our offices. Strangely enough, I have never been in Rick's. I do however, know of some other places.

One other thing, there are some great bars here as well. If you want some dirt on where to drink, just let me know.

Thanks for the all the tips guys!

Still not sure if this trip is gonna happen.

I'm just trying to getaway from everything for a bit since school is really piling it on.

How's parking in downtown Minneapolis? How are the prices at Golden Leaf and do they usually have some of the HTF stuff?

You will not find good prices on cigars anywhere in MN.(35% tobacco tax + 35% "health impact fee" ). Golden Leaf has an OK selection. They don't usually have much HTF stuff. Tobacco Grove has some GOF if you are willing to drive and pay $30 - $35 a stick.
As for steak my vote is for Murray's. Give a shout out if you do come to town. Might be able to round up a few CPers for a little herf. BTW if you get here after October 1st you will not be able to smoke anywhere indoors except at tobacco shops :( .

If this goes down, PM me. I can try to make a day trip down depending on a few things, of course.

:)

As for the question about parking...traffic in general sucks the big one in Minneapolis. It's not NY or LA bad, but it's pretty damn bad for the mid-west and the size of the area. I HATE driving in that mess.

(Of course I'm a country boy from Indiana who lives in the sticks, so it's all relative. )
