After reading posts about mold on Anejos till I couldn't see anymore I have this question.

Today I took every Anejo out of my humis and stripped each one naked looking for the infamous mold under the cedar. They are all good and now I have to ask...................if they have been in my humi for a few months and are okay, should I still remove the cedar? My basement ranges between 62 degrees and 66 degrees and are kept at 67%.

If the Anejos are not exhibiting any current degradation and they remain in a proven stable environment, I see no reason to remove the cedar.

Send them to me...I'll make sure the don't get mold on them. :)

Oh - what MMM said!

I just did another check on mine as well, 64f/64% is treating them right. I have a bunch of boxes,no humi paks cello on and no mold for a good while now. ??? Some have OLD dingy looking cello...those are the good ones.

If they are not moldy now they should be fine , I always check mine about once a week. I have a few new boxes that I am keeping an eye on but once they have been resting for a month I feel comfortable that mine are safe from mold. I am down in FL and I think a real mold accelerator is shipping when its hot, any over humidified steamy boxes will probably mold. I was thinking a few %RH too high would be all it would take.

What about Humi paks? I wonder what the max temp is before they fail?

Ok I have to check mine again.

Seems my post has made everyone paranoid! Well atleast maybe I made some people check their stashes to catch it before it happens.
