It is really sad to wake up turn on ESPN to find out the dark lord of the Yankees has died. I am originally from New York, born in Queens on Long Island about 20 minutes from the old Shea Stadium and grow up a Mets fan even as I live on the west coast. The Yankees have lost a good owner and baseball has lost another character that has shaped the game and even other sports. RIP Mr. Steinbrenner.
