Hi all, as many of you know, i sold my condo and am awaiting the closing on my new house on sept. 1st. my wife and i are packing the place up, and i didn't realize how much **** we had! We are transferring the contents of said condo to a storage unit, and have to live with my parents for 6 wks. Not so bad, but no high speed computer connections. That really sucks, as we do all our bill paying on-line. Anyhow, I will be on and off the board for the next month or so, wish me luck!!!!

I am in the opposite situation. The In-Laws sold their house faster than anticipated so guess what, they have been here for 2 months and probably won't leave till close to Christmas. ;) Good thing I smoke cigars, keeps them away at night. :sign:

I thought we might be in the same situation. :0

Our house sold in a week and we hadn't even looked at another house.

M-I-L said we could stay with them if needed. I didn't have a problem with that as I get along with them. Just didn't want to have to move all the stuff twice.

Well, that changed last Monday. We saw, we offered and they said yes. We close on Aug. 16th.

Good luck in your move.

I feel for you guys my parents have been living wiht me since they started their remodel 2 months ago.... Now don't get me wrong their my parents and I love them but I am ready to over to their house and start helping out the contractor so he can finish earlier than he promised.

Boy did they have a lot of stuff :whistling:

It's not fun moving out or in. When we moved into our home I told the wife that if we ever move again the stuff stays with the house.

Knowing that we'll be moving into a new house in the next year or two (or perhaps moving away entirely since my wife "Hates" her job, as of last night), we've been on a mission to get rid of all our crap. We realized when we moved here that there were boxes that had not been unpacked for 2 or 3 moves, so the stuff in them could not possibly be that important.

Donate all of your unwanted stuff (that's not simply garbage) to places like Goodwill, Salvation Army, or whatever your town has to offer. There's alot of folks out there who could really use that 10 year old rain jacket, or that extra pair of sneakers that you haven't worn in 3 years. Or extra kitchen stuff, an old crib, whatever it is. And you will most likely get to deduct the fair market value of that stuff as a donation on your taxes, unless you make a ridiculous amount of money, or don't itemize. In which case it's still a good idea to donate that extra stuff.

funny part is Gonz..we had gone through everything 7mo. ago! We had a rule, buy a shirt, donate a shirt. Buy some pants, donate some pants...you get the jist. We had a geat tax write off last year!
Coming from a 600 sq. ft. condo to an 1800 sq. ft house is gonna be a leap for us, considering we had 2- 6' closets (that was it for closet space). The palce is going to look empty!
