Well my wife, a.k.a. Super Soccer mom, is driving home from my eldest son's soccer tourney in Cape Canaveral to Key West. Well in Floirda City, The stretch of road south of Miami and north of the Keys she pulls off for the last "kiddie" break. When they were piling into the car, she looks over and saw Mr. Johnson getting into his car. For those of you who don't know, his primary residence is in the Keys. She asks Austin(the eldest) if he recognizes him. Austin said yes, but drew a blank where he knew him from(he's only 9). Well she sends him over with a pen and piece of scrap paper. He politely declines signing the paper, but asked Austin to wait for one minute. Mr. Johnson goes and digs around in the car, and returns with 3 of his autographed football cards. 1 for each of the kids. He has a short conversation with my wife, and goes on about his business.

A lot of the older gentlemen I meet( 40's-50's) complain that my generation don't have manners. Or don't have this or that, which their generation has. Well maybe thats true. But my children have exactly what they are complaining about my generation not having. That mix of compassion, courtesy, and pride. I want to say thank you to Mr. Johnson, and all of you other "throwback" gentlemen who reward the youth of today. Thank you for not being greedy like a ton of other "hero's".

That is terrific. Being a resident of the Dallas area, I can say that is still missed here. It's really hard to find anyone other than Jerry Jones who feels deeply wronged by Jimmy. They refer to him as "the greatness of Jimmy". I have found that a lot of people that I assume to be jerks are nothing of the sort when treated with respect and dignity, just like any man deserves to be approached.

My wife was actually moved by his actions and demeaner. She came across as he was acting like a grandfather figure calling my son over to tell him tall tales. Just a personable old man enjoying life in south Florida (where I hope to spend my latter life). In response to your post Gavin, walk a mile in that jerk shoes before you call him a jerk. I agree with you whole heartedly.
