Music that doesn't suck

okay..here we go..more punk...I will be listening to this on my way to work

three thousand miles of wilderness overcome by the flow,
a lonely restitution of pavement,
pomp and show,
i seek a thousand answers,
i find but one or two,
i maintain no discomfiture,
my path again renewed!!

:D Fella misspelled Faron Young in his/her auction. That's a hanging offense in some parts. Speaking of Faron Young...brings to mind another kind of unsung hero in my mind...at least, back when he was on the greatest little label that Memphis had (next to Stax that is):

Well I make it alright
From Monday morning 'til Friday night
But oh those lonely weekends

Well since you left me
Honey I've been as lonely as a man can be
But oh those lonely weekends

Well you said you'd be good to me
You said our love would never die
You said you'd be good to me
Whoa but darlin' you wouldn't even try

Well I make it alright
From Monday morning 'til Friday night
But oh those lonely weekends

You said you'd be good to me
You said our love would never die
You said you'd be good to me
Whoa but darlin' you wouldn't even try

...perhaps a little trite compared to the stuff you guys are quoting, but about once a day, I think:

"Oh I used to be disgusted....And now I try to be amused."

...keeps me from choking some SOB every now and then....

Cheers - B.B.S.

Elvis Costello is a-ok.

Speaking of Elvis Costello....one of his songs that, to this day, gives me goose-bumps each time I hear it...(and the fact that he teamed up with no-show Jones on this one is also a guaranteed, sure-fire sender for me):

Can hardly bear the sight of lipstick on the cigarettes there in the ashtray
Lyin' cold the way you left 'em
but at least your lips caressed them while you packed
Or the lip-print on a half-filled cup of coffee that you poured and didn't drink
But at least you thought you wanted it
that's so much more than I can say for me...

...After three full years of marriage
it's the first time that you haven't made the bed
I guess the reason we're not talkin'
there's so little left to say we haven't said
While a million thoughts go racin' through my mind
I find I haven't said a word
From the bedroom the familiar sound of one baby's cryin' goes unheard

Bad Religion

I was only five
when I heard the tale
of the little train that said
"I think I can"
But what's hard to give
is hard to get
and once you've lost it
it's always gone
it's always gone
Standing on the railroad tracks
I hear the whistle
the Godfathers call
the biggest train of all
It's speeding closer towards the bridge
I'm hoping it can show me
how it's done

new rules...no google...and hints

No google?

You are asking a bunch of guys who sit around on a computer all afternoon not to use Google to prove how smart they are...

Well at least I can use Yahoo! :p

Charlie Rich and The Gene Lowery Chorus

Absolutely. Was a tough call for me on whether to go with ol' Charlie, or, another personal favorite of mine, Don Gibson. But, I opted for Charlie...at least in his days before he got too sappy.

No Google on the honor system, is like a box of Cupcakes and a "donation" can at a Weight Wathcers meeting.

I think that George Jones recorded that before Elvis Costello, but I don't know who wrote it. I'm laying off the Google.

This was fun, so here's another I heard on the way to work today.

And the ladies are all getting wrinkles
And they're falling apart at the seams
Well I just get high on tequila
And see visions of vineyards in my dreams

elton john? not sure if he originally did it or not.

here's one i heard at work this morning too. its an easy one, but some of my favorite lyrics...

And the piano, sounds like a carnival
And the microphone smells like a beer
And they sit at the bar and put bread in my jar
And say, "Man, what are you doin' here."

Billy Joel, Piano Man. One of my favs.

Here's my contribution. . .

Callin' it your job, ol'Hoss
Sure don't make it right
If you want me to I'll say a prayer
for your soul tonight

Ill contribute as well... amazing duo... yet not serious. Some will know, most won't.

History of Wonderboy and Young Nastyman,
Riggah-goo-goo, riggah-goo-goo.
A secret to be told, a gold chest to be bold,
And blasting forth with three-part harmony, yeow!
Wonderboy, what is the secret of your power?
Wonderboy, won't you take me far away from the mucky-muck man?

Tenacious D yet again. I thought I was the only guy that listened to these 2. :)

Guess i'll add one more from one of my favorite groups:

I have found some kind of temporary sanity in this
shit blood and cum on my hands.
I've come round full circle.

I would have had that too, didn't see that it was skipped as I just read the last post...oops.

Tenacious D rocks... you should get the DVD

Here's another... Something new from someone old.

The painter stood
Before her work
She looked around every where
She saw the pictures and she painted them
She picked the colors from the air

Green to green
Red to red
Yellow to yellow
In the light
Black to black
When the evening comes
Blue to blue
In the night

It's a long road
Behind me
It's a long road
Ahead

If you follow every dream
You might get lost
If you follow every dream
You might
Get
Lost.

She towed the line
She held her end up
She did the work of too many
But in the end
She fell down
Before she got up again

I keep my friends eternally
We leave our tracks in the sound
Some of them are with me now
Some of them can't be found

It's a long road behind me
And I miss you now

If you follow every dream
You might get lost
If you follow every dream
You might
Get
Lost.
