Music that doesn't suck

Was driving this morning, listening to one of my favorites I mentioned in another thread in here, and thought that I would post this. This is definitely music which doesn't suck. Though, I had a very tough time figuring which song to go with here...too many I listened to on my morning drive were candidates. But considering my upcoming trek to NYC for the Big Smoke and Thanksgiving, I had to go with this one. It is also a duet with another favorite singer of mine, R.I.P. So, without further blabbing...in its entirety (there really is no other way to do it justice)...

It was Christmas Eve babe
In the drunk tank
An old man said to me, won't see another one
And then he sang a song
The Rare Old Mountain Dew
I turned my face away
And dreamed about you

Got on a lucky one
Came in eighteen to one
I've got a feeling
This year's for me and you
So happy Christmas
I love you baby
I can see a better time
When all our dreams come true

They've got cars big as bars
They've got rivers of gold
But the wind goes right through you
It's no place for the old
When you first took my hand
On a cold Christmas Eve
You promised me
Broadway was waiting for me

You were handsome
You were pretty
Queen of New York City
When the band finished playing
They howled out for more
Sinatra was swinging,
All the drunks they were singing
We kissed on a corner
Then danced through the night

The boys of the NYPD choir
Were singing "Galway Bay"
And the bells were ringing out
For Christmas day

You're a bum
You're a punk
You're an old slut on junk
Lying there almost dead on a drip in that bed
You scumbag, you maggot
You cheap lousy faggot
Happy Christmas your arse
I pray God it's our last

I could have been someone
Well so could anyone
You took my dreams from me
When I first found you
I kept them with me babe
I put them with my own
Can't make it all alone
I've built my dreams around you

For the past few days, I have, for some reason, been playing this cd constantly...

It was an early morning yesterday
I was up before the dawn
And I really have enjoyed my stay
But I must be moving on

Like a king without a castle
Like a queen without a throne
I'm an early morning lover
And I must be moving on

Now I believe in what you say
Is the undisputed truth
But I have to have things my own way
To keep me in my youth

Like a ship without an achor
Like a slave without a chain
Just the thought of those sweet ladies
Sends a shiver through my veins

And I will go on shining
Shining like brand new
I'll never look behind me
My troubles will be few.....

Good bye Mary, Good bye Jane, hope we never meet again......

Just happened to be listening to this again during some early morning pt...

But there are times that you feel you're part of the scenery
All the greenery is comin' down, boy
And then your wife seems to think you're part of the furniture
Oh, it's peculiar, she used to be so nice...

And when you're up on the stage, it's so unbelievable,
Unforgettable, how they adore you,
But then your wife seems to think you're losing your sanity,
Oh, calamity, is there no way out?...

Does it feel that you life's become a catastrophe?
Oh, it has to be for you to grow, boy
When you look through the years and see what you could have been
Oh, what you might have been, if you'd had more time...

And, to throw another out there, was listening to this one too...

I'm your worn in leather jacket
I'm the volume in your fucked up teenage band
A bag of smokes and a six pack
I'm the dreams you had walking down the railroad tracks
You and Me.

I'm your first taste of romance
I'm your first broken heart on a Saturday night
Guys like us ain't got no chance
But I'm the thing that keeps you and me alive
But not forever

So take me down the road
take me to the show
its something to believe in
that no one else knows
but don't take me granted

I'm the blood on your guitar
I'm that wave you caught back in 1975
I'm as strong as a thousand armies
I'm as soft as pedal on a long stem rose
I am love

I'm with you when you're born
You can take me when you die
With all the reasons why
But don't take me for granted...
