Okay, so I'm trying to use the ircs for my reviews, but I decided to skip out using it on this one. I was warned not to store it with my other sticks, but I knew I was going to smoke it tonight so I wasn't too concerned about that.
As with all Acids, I enjoyed the scent of the cigar, including the foot. The wrapper was flawless, and it was definitely a fat mother. I didn't get in a pre-light draw as my sister right when I was cutting it, and I was thinking more about what she had to say than what I was doing. I did manage to wait to light it until after I was off the phone with her.
The first half inch was a little rough--it tasted old, but then that went away. As with other Acids I've had the scent of the smoke was strong and sweet/spicy. Truthfully, I didn't detect much flavor. For most of the cigar, it seemed like I was taking in hot air through a cotton ball. There were a couple times that I caught a bit of spiciness or the flavor of what I was smelling in the smoke, (I still can't entirely identify it: a bit of cedar mixed with clove (?) and other spices,) but mostly it was ordinary and bland. I will admit that my ability to taste my not be fully developed, but even with an inexpensive cigar I had earlier this week, I was able to detect different flavors and sensations. It also wasn't like other cigars I've had that Drew Estate has made, like the Khalua, where the flavor was easy to detect.
The draw was beautiful and thick. The ash built on the end to about 3 inches before it finally dropped off. It was spotted with some black, but mostly it was a whitish/grey. It didn't burn evenly, sometimes a difference of a half inch would build up even as I tried to work it back to even.
The after-taste was just as bland, with the notable flavor of "smoke". I was left with the impression of "Meh..." I really think that I was expecting more from this cigar.
I doubt that I will try another, but I was curious which is what made me try it to begin with. It could probably pass for s decent summertime smoke, but for the same money, I would definitely invest in any number of others not in the Acid line.
