Gettin' my nerd on, Hopp Schwiez!
So as some of you know I went to Houston for the 4th week-end. I know this post is a little late but thought I'd share.
My dad celebrated his 79th birthday on the 4th and he wanted all the kids home. So my brother, who is undergoing surgery for his second round with oral cancer, and my 3 living sisters and various grandchildren, including a nephew who shipped off to boot camp today, and great-grandchildren descended on his house. It was special because we don't all get together often anymore. We had a big BBQ (I'll try to get pics later) with everyone, about 15-20 people, there. My brother and I took care of the BBQ for the first time so all my dad had to do was sit and relax. The day was capped off by taking my son to see his first firework show.
It struck me later that this is what the 4th should be. The people who have served our country and those that founded it, did so for the sake of our families. We can enjoy basic liberties and each other because we are free. I'd like to thank those who have served and those that will.
