Some of you guys helped out with cigars for my buddy and his guys/gals recently deployed in Iraq, on Cigar Snobs. I got this note and pics from him today, so figured I'd share over here too. Lance is the ugky white guy smoking the cigar. :sign: I'll be sending them another package later this week. Sounds like they are enjoying their time as much as possible.

Hey Buddy,

Yeah things are going well so far. I love this place! Not! It could be a lot worse though. Some other Soldiers and I have created a little smoking club. Every night after work we get our lawn chairs in a circle and smoke cigars in the desert and tell lies. It's dark as hell most nights, all you can see are little red cherries burning on everyone?s cigar. It's my favorite part of the day.
Hey by the way I really appreciate the cigars. It's means a lot. When they arrive I'll make sure to pass them around the circle of desert lies. lol

Talk to you soon.

Lance

Hey, that's cool, thanks for the follow up - looks
like he is enjoying the cigar.

I hope all he sees every night is little red cherries.

Thanks for sharing Matt, how long does he have to go?

One of my best buddies leaves to go down there in 2 weeks :( And its been less than a year since he got back from Afghanistan.

Current policy is rubbing our military raw.

My youngest brother is heading back over next month. This will be his third tour to Iraq. He spent two tours in Afghanistan also. He's taking some sticks with him, but I've got to keep him replenished.

how long does he have to go?

I think he's still got 10 months or so. He found out his wife was pregnant about two weeks before he was sent over. So, I know he's itching to get home. Hopefully they'll only keep him the year they originally told them.

great pics and dont forget we are always looking for units to support with "operation from the heart" . Ask Wyatt its great to get an opfth bombing.

If you or a relative wish to submit someone or their unit to us to add to the rotation of care packages we ship just get me at smitty at opfth.com

check out the units section on our website for details and examples at www.opfth.com

Just received a new picture of my buddy Lance. He is due for an R&R trip home in a week. Hopefully this will coincide with the birth of his first child. It seems she's been waiting for him to get home. Let's keep our fingers crossed she gets to seee daddy before he heads back to the desert.

More than most people realize. It does not take into account the damage done to the families, the wife / husband and kids.

Somethings never change. You can go back to the Civil War and find similar photographs, only the uniforms and weapons are different.

Doc.

Doc.

You may remember this Doc. There was an old World War ll movie with Robert Mitchem and at the end of it he says the line, " the only thing that changes is uniform and method of transportation". I don't remember the movie name but that line always stuck with me.
