My damn lighter will not work.

I see you guys talking about "soft flame lighters" and have to ask. I was always told that you need to use either wood matches or butane torches in order to get a "good" light, that a bic or a soft flame would impart a "chemical" taste to the smoke. I always figured it was the high temps of the torch burning off the impurtites that would leave the taste. Have I been mislead by FOG's who seem to have more experience then me?

Let me know since I am a huge fan of zippo's and have dozens of them hiding away!

My PB-207 lasted about 4 months! Colibri about 12 months. 10 Tiger torches off ebay for $50 including shipping and the first one I filled is going strong 3 months later.

The reason they say don't use the "Zippo" or other type liquid fueled lighter is the smell & taste from the lit wick transfers to the cigar.
Butane produces as tasteless & odorless flame, With matches the sulfur burns off. Thus holding a wooden match slightly under your cigar when lighting it. As you draw & puff on the cigar ,the flame is drawn up to the cigar without the open flame burning the cigar.
Some purists believe in using a plain wood match stick, or one made out of Cedar, pre lit ,then used to light your stogies.
** GOOD News ** There is a Butane Insert made that fits Zippo & Zippo type lighters. NOT the Slim Line Style. It's called the "Z - Insert" & is available from Famous Smoke Shop. Elighters.com, & Cigars international on line. Some J&R stores have them in stock, But not their on line shop.
