There I was, sittin' on the plane between San Diego and Seattle when the significance of June 27th struck me. On that date, 30 years ago, Airman Basic Luna reported for Basic Military Training at Lackland AFB, Texas. Wow. It's like it was yesterday and a lifetime ago all at once. Wore the uniform for 20 years, 7 months, and 4 days after that...but who's counting? Weather permitting, I think I'll have stick to mark the occasion.

You're not so bad off. At least you can remember the date. What did you have for breakfast this morning?

Doc.

At least you can remember the date.

I agree! That in itself is an accomplishment.

Seriously, best wishes on your "anniversary" Brett, and from one old vet to another...thanks for serving. I still remember every 21 May as it was on that date in '71 that I began my USA service and soon found myself not far from Lackland over at Fort Sam.

Just like an old timers reunion here.

How come I wasn't invited ???

Wow! That's a long time. You should certainly enjoy a good cigar to mark the event. By the way, I went to your site and looked at your photos....very, very impressive.

Just like good wine and good cigars, you don't get old, you get wiser, mellow and usually take things to the nub. Have to say that some do get full bodied though.

Keep on telling your stories brother. I've recently come to understand and appreciate why the older guys repeat so many stories. I pay closer attention these days. It sure is good to have you guys around.

Sidenote: I'm having a 10 year Peace Corps reunion this summer. My grandfather just back from D.C. where he attended his final WWII reunion. He was a bombardier who flew missions over the Asia Pacific. My other grandfather (passed) was on the ground in the islands of the Asia Pacific. My great aunt, who recently passed at 103, was a teacher in Milwaukee. She had known soldiers from the Civil War, WWI, WWII, Korea and Vietnam.
