This is my new Springfield Armory Loaded 1911. I got it brand new for my HK USP 45. I love it!

Pics of the 1911

Tell me what you guys think!

EDIT:

Got a database error and it told me to refresh. Creating two threads! Sorry!

Excellent choice. I love 1911's. I had one built for me on a Colt 1991A1 frame that I wouldn't part with for love nor money. You're going to find your Springfield a little more difficult to shoot than the H&K,(more recoil) but you'll figure it out. Carrying it cocked and locked, although perfectly safe, takes a certain mind set, also.;)

Doc.

Very nice. I only have one 1911 myself ( A Kimber Ultra CDP II). I've heard nothing but good things about SA 1911s from friends that have them. Enjoy it.

MY first handgun was a Springfield Armory GI. I traded it for a Beretta 92F and then for a Sig P229. Traded the 229 for the HK and then the HK for the 1911!

I knew soon as my GI was gone that I had to have a 1911 again! I actually find the Loaded more enjoyable to shoot than the HK.

I love em!

You guys should post pics of your guns! I wanna see what everyone has done to their grips and such.

Also thanks to whomever deleted the accidental second thread I made about this!

I think I've posted a few photos of my toys here. They're somewhere around...but I have an H&K USP 45 that I tweaked a little and carry on duty. I love that gun, but I'm definitely in the market for a 1911. So far, the majority of boys at my department have had zero issues with Springfields, as opposed to the guys who own Kimbers. I've heard some interesting problems (malfunctions, double feeds, etc.) that spooked them enough to not rely on them for duty carry. One of my swat buddies had his Kimber blow up on him on a training day and we all had a good laugh. To Kimber's credit, they replaced the barrel and slide, but he won't carry it anymore.

I really like the wood grips on your gun Jackie-boy, very nicely done.

Oh, and stop pointing your gun at people at the pool!

Love Springfields. The wood grips are actually stock. When I get my CHL I will get different grips, these are a bit slippery.

Also its my pool! Ill point it at the invisible sharks I keep in it if I want to!

Well I think you should have waited and got this bad boy.

Real Guns Review

When asked about applications for this new burst of fire power, Warren Whippet, S&W's VP of Sales and Markup said, "We see this as a tactical weapon for those situations where you want to lay down some serious fire, then get the hell out of there. Sort of like carpet bombing with a handgun, but without the turbine engine noise, flight suits or a large carbon foot print. The DT is a very green weapons system. Yes, very green indeed".

Also here is a picture of Jon with two of his toys

I love tritium sights. SA 1911's are top quality...only issue I've had was that it needed the feed ramp to be sanded down.

Nice Acquisition.

I have a Sig 226 in mind for a redeployment gift to myself... just a little while longer to wait. Never shot a 1911 though. I have huge hands and someone said I'd find it a bit narrow.

The 226 is bomb. Get one of the two tone or elite stainless. They come with the most gorgeous wood grips!

Should try out a 1911 before you stray from it! I did and I found my way back!

I have to echo Jacks statement. Try out a 1911 before you decide if you want it or not. I too have big hands, which is why I stopped carrying my department issued P220. It was too small, and the USP was a perfect size after messing with the grip. I shot a few 1911s after saying that they'd be too small and you'll be surprised that they are comfortable. I know I was.

Or buy both! Thats what I would do haha.

If I was going out today. Id get an HK USP Tactical 45, Sig 220 Elite and Springfield TRP.

All high quality guns, Im just partial to the Sigs and 1911s. Im not a colt fanatic though. I get the history, I just dont buy into the elitism.

1911's are a different animal when compared to most of today's service pistols. I've shot a hand full of different models and nothing really gave me the "wow" factor, but they were comfortable. Ultimately it boils down to finding something you like with the features you want.

You might want to check out a S&W MP Series, the different back-straps with varying degrees of palm swell offer some flexibility. With their .gov discount the prices are very reasonable.

Good Lord I love those damn guns. I was just looking at a Colt the other day, wish I could carry it off duty. Nice piece man, can't go wrong with a Springfield.!

I'm 6'7", 235 with big hands and have always carried a 45, just put a set of Pachmayrs on it and you'll be fine. I've had the same Colt Combat Government for about 30 years now as my carry gun. Scratched, dents, bluing worn off in spots but it still works just fine.
