I was going to post it in one of the two existing threads but decided not to mostly because I took a lot of time to put it together and did not want it lost in the middle. That may be a dumb reason but it is the truth.
I am posting this because two respected BOTL have expressed their opinion on a subject sensitive to our community. The care and treatment of new guys at first I tended to agree with one of these opinions more than the other but after reading both posts several times I have come to realize both of them are right.
I tend to read a lot and post less that is just me I would do that even if it wasn’t preached Dailey. I also use the search function regularly something else I would do even if it wasn’t recommended I am a curious person by nature. With that said I can honestly say there are not many posts I have not read in this community. We have no moderators here but we do have a national guard of sorts. These are fogs and established members who look out for the community.
These members do a fine job too some are so cynical they are funny others are brash and bold and direct others just say what’s on their mind and some wax eloquently for hours.
There is also a lesser known group that sits quietly and does not say much except for on occasion. All of these personalities collectively form the veterans of CP and have there place.
What is bothering me is there seems to be a number of newer members lets say under 6 months just for clarity’s sake that feel they are veterans. Some of these members will go into attack mode fairly quickly or make harsh remarks that are not necessary. My feeling is that these folks should sit back and let the folks who have been handling these things handle them or report it to rod if it is really bad. Most of the times if something is really bad the veterans are on it anyway or will be on it soon enough.
What happens is even though these members may be good intentioned they come off as bully’s and give the wrong impression, the other thing I noticed is that when veterans are handling something these same members will chime in and often make matters worse. I think it would be of great benefit to the community if when something is being handled by the experienced the inexperienced just stay out of it.
In my humble opinion it does not make you cool or one of the boys it just makes you look like the little kid in the back yelling look at me I am with the cool guys. Just hang out read a lot post once in awhile use the search function and avoid the drama everyone will be happier for it. Because at some point it will backfire and you will end up on the receiving end.
I could search and link some of the posts here but I wont for two reasons one it is a good opportunity to practice using search two I have no idea how that works. Well this may truly be the longest post I have ever made. But it was something that was on my mind I even took the time to attempt spelling and punctuation. One last thing I also see a lot of folks nailing folks in the market place. I think this type of thing is a worthy endeavor as long as we are sure of our facts. There has been another trend lately that also makes me proud to be a member here several folks including my self have offered up awesome deals to contradict some of these idiots . If we all tried to fight back in that manner we may avoid some of the drama that don’t mean I think everyone should give away there stash for pennies but if we post one great deal for every Ebay idiot we can at least show the way. Ok I am done now this post is not directed at any one person or group it is just meant to get people to think a bit .
