Mystery Padron

I ordered a couple five packs of Padron Delicias recently and they all look good with one unique exception. One of the ten cigars is distinctly different from the others. It is longer, has a smaller gauge, and is box pressed. Not that I really care about one cigar, but I just found it interesting because I can't think of what Padron this would be based on it's dimensions. The best that I can tell, it is about 5" (or just a hair less) and has a gauge probably around 42. I've included some photos to show.

This is the mystery cigar:

Side by side with a standard Delicias (the Delicias obviously being on the right):

That's what I thought at first (being that I've never had a Londres before), but the dimensions don't add up right. The mystery cigar is, at best, 5" (not 5 1/2"). Is the Londres even box-pressed?

I was under the impression all Padrons were box pressed. And I know for a fact that Londres are. I smoke them regularly.

Doc.

Thanks Hillbilly, but I'm aware of this reference and have referred to it several times in an effort to make sense of this. It still doesn't point out what this mystery cigar is because nothing seems to match the dimensions.

As far as I know only the Anniversary Series is box pressed.
The only size that comes close is the Delicias. Either a
truck ran over the Delicias or it's a fake? :whistling:

Brian, that's what I was thinking (about the box-pressed cigars), but Doc mentioned earlier that he smokes the Londres all the time and they are box-pressed. I don't know, and it's not a big deal, just interesting. I look forward to trying it to see if it tastes the same as the Delicias. Regarding it being a fake, that's kind of funny to entertain since it's a $2.50 cigar. By the way, these came from c-bid.

Perhaps the more logical explanation is the truck theory.

Any markings on the band that may give you a telltale?

All Padrons are box pressed. Some more than others! I wonder if they came out of two different boxes. We see the size change all the time. Sometimes they are slightly longer but more severly pressed sometimes short with almost no press! They reuse boxes! We send back a good majority of our empties! If it was a fake you would think they would do it on a cigar that's more expensive than a Delicas! And Nick, what the hell are you doing buying Padrons a week before the event? :p

'Balls, I was wondering when you were finally going to weigh into this discussion. It took you long enough. :whistling:

Regarding the event - don't you worry my friend, my buddy and I are coming locked and loaded for the weekend. Don't forget, my buddy and I have a 6-7 hour road trip to get to KC and we'll have a couple of days prior to the event in which we will be doing a good bit of boozing and smoking. What else should we smoke? ;)
