I am currently infatuated with a certain flavor, and would like to determine how to properly describe it. I'd also like to know what tobaccos or processes cause it so I can focus my buying in a specific direction.

I've been smoking cigars off and on for over 10 years, but have only recently adapted it as a hobby. The bottom line is that no matter how many cigars I've smoked, no matter how many reviews I've read, no matter how much I b.s., I really don't know how to describe flavors very well. So I'm trying to leave the following intentionally vague so that I can learn from those with a greater level of expertise.

The flavor is one that I've found to be strong in both the Oliva Serie V, and the Romeo y Julieta Habana Reserve. Both have a Nicaraguan wrapper. Has anyone here smoked both of these cigars that can help me identify the contiguous flavor, or is what I'm describing something that can be pinpointed to the region of origin?

I thought it might be Ligero, and went for the Gurhka Triple Ligero...but that's not the flavor. Nice cigar, but not what I was looking for in this research.

The Serie V from Oliva is an enchanting Nicaraguan puro chock full of flavorful goodness. On the outside, a beautiful Nicaraguan grown Habano Sun Grown wrapper glistens with oils. Thick and smooth as silk, this impressive leaf conceals a powerful, yet balanced and smooth blend of aged Nicaraguan ligero from the Jalapa Valley of Nicaragua.

Romeo y Julieta Habana Reserve Cigars
Wrapper: Nicaraguan
Binder: Nicaraguan
Filler: Honduran and Nicaraguan

Looks like its the Nicaraguan tobacco to me bro. :)

Never had the RyJ Habana Reserve, but the Oliva V's are amazing. Love the flavor myself-- could not agree more.

I'm pretty sure after much intensive research :) that it's pepper I'm after. However, every time I've experienced it - I've had a Nicaraguan stick in my hand; San Cristobal, Oliva V, Joya de Nicaragua, etc.

Try another line by Pepin....Tatuaje Havana VI...a great stick in any vitola. Made in Nicaraugua with (I believe) 100% Nic tobacco....

+1

I would also try the DPG lines (blue, black, and JJ), as well as the LFD DL Chisel natural. All of these are of that flavor profile IMO. I'm a big fan of all of them.

I know what you're talking about but I also have no clue how to describe it... that lovely Nicaraguan Twang
