Hi everyone,

I just joined today and thought I'd drop a line or two about me.

I'm retired USMC but still work full time as a Network Manager. I've been smoking cigars for about 30 years and drinking scotch for about the same amount of time.

I live in Pennsylvania which isn't good for buying whisky or cigars. The first is because we have a state run liquor system so prices are a bit higher and if you want somethin that isn't on the official list you better plan on a trip out of state. The second is that some of the larger internet cigar stores are in PA so I get to pay shipping AND sales tax. However, PA doesn't tax retirement pay so that's a big plus.

Besides cigars and scotch I have a lifelong interest in stereo equipment and a 1971 Pontiac Lemans (464ci, turbo 400, 4.10 12 bolt) that takes whatever money I have left after the wife, scotch and cigars.

Hope to see you around the boards.

When I was in college at Univ Hawaii, I owned a 1974 Lemans I do not know enough about cars to tell you anything about it, but I paid 500 dollars for it, and the floor beneath the peddles eventually rusted out so I had to put a board across so I could use them, this hole worked out because all my friends and I would go out to the beach and I could rinse out the sand and other stuff thru the hole. I sold the car for 250 dollars when I left the island in 1988. :D

Welcome AVB!

Glad to have you here. You're gonna like it here. This is a GREAT PLACE.

Just sit back, light one up, and enjoy the company!

HAPPY SMOKES! ! !

Welcome to CP! Great to have another scotch drinker aboard :) So what are some of your favorites? And btw I feel your pain. Here in Utah we have state conrtolled liquor as well and it is a pain in the a$$. :(

lucasbuck,

I'm a Balvenie guy mostly, that is what I drink most often although the 30 yo Glenfiddich I opend last night could become habit forming. My top 5 that I drink somewhat regularly are (in no order):

Balvenie 25 yo Single Cask (almost impossible to find in the US, I order direct from Scotland)
Balvenie 12 yo Double Wood
Lagavulin 16 yo
MaCallan 18 yo
Highland Park 18 yo

Welcome AVB,

NICE car  probably low 12's in a 1/4 mile :D

I know what you mean about the cars, my Jaguar takes what little time and money I have left over as well.

Be sure to look into joining us at the Holiday Herf @ JR's in Whippany, NJ on 12/5 & 12/6.

There's a thread here about this.

Thanks for the invite but that is a good 4 hour+ drive, I'll have to see. As for the car, best was 11.78 with 10" slicks on the old motor. I haven't ran the new motor at the track but it will be slower becuase it was built with more "street" in mind. I'd be happy at 12.1 or 12.2.

11.78 !!

woooooooooHO, MAN that's FAST!!

12.1 - 12.2 for a street car will blow the doors off of just about anything that is road legal!!!

LOL I'll bet you have fun with the kids with the hopped up imports!!

The 70's, man those WERE the days. Except for the folks driving the OLD beetles and the idiots that went and bought the aluminum blocked Vega or the Courier, I think everyone had a car that could beat out anything on the street today, and it came stock.

Have y'all seen what Hemi Roadrunners in original condition are going for? $80,000 or better. Everyone that I knew that had em back then ended up wrapped around telephone pole. ??? Phone poles ALWAYS win an arguement with a car. ;)

My, you have great taste! Lagavulin 16 is my favorite. Highland Park 18 is also excellent. I'm still trying to track down some CaCallan 18 as it has been highly praised by many a brother on this board. I'm now adding Balvenie 25 and 12 to my list :D Thanks for the list
