If you use the most recent version of FF, then spell-check is built into the browser.
Go to OPTIONS Then the ADVANCED tab and the GENERAL sub-tab. there should be a check-box "check spelling as I type" and you'll be good to go.

I'm really happy to see the old version back! I never really liked the new ugly blue one so it's great to have the sleek old skin back.
