While not as inexpensive as the first set of four; Islay, Highland, Lowland & Speyside. These next two seem to be worthy editions at their price points. First is a 12 yo Sherried Highland at about $28

And the second is a 16 yo Highland. which again is Glen Garioch, for about $40

Both should be decent drams for the money and fairly good values. I'm curious myself about the Sherried Highland.

There should be wide enough distribution to find if locally for most people.

Anyone try the 12 year old Sherry Finished?

I should be getting a bottle soon, since it's on sale for $23 in Montgomery County. It's just a matter of making the trip down there.

Well, I picked up a bottle of the 12 year Sherry Finished today. After trying it, I gotta say that I don't like it...at all.

Now, I am very new to Scoth. So far I've tried Macallan 12, Glenmorangie 10, Balvenie Doublewood, Dalmore 12, this McClelland's, and 2 others that I don't remember the names of (had them at friend's homes).

I thought Macallan and Dalmore were OK, but probably wouldn't buy them again. I didn't like the Glenmorangie much, but I think the Balvenie Doublewood is some damn good stuff.

I am a big bourbon drinker, and I like Irish Whiskey, especially sherried ones (Redbreast 12, Bushmills 10 Year Malt, Black Bush).

So maybe Scotch just isn't my thing. I think it's safe to say I don't like overly peaty, salty, or ashy tasting whisk(e)y. I like the Balvenie alot, but I think it's very clear to me now that just because a Scotch is 12 years old and aged to some degree in sherry casks, it does not mean I'll like it.

I can't pick out exactly one thing it is about the McClelland's I don't like - I just don't like it in the least. I hope others find this more to their liking.

Where did you find it? Maybe I'll pick some up next trip south. It isn't nearby to me.

I found it at the Burtonsville store in Montgomery County, MD. They had it on sale for $23 so I couldn't pass up giving it a try.

I never get down that way. Maybe you can send it up and I'll trade you some sticks.

I don't make it down that way often, but when I go down next I can pick you up a bottle.

If you're talking about me sending up the opened bottle...that I could do too.

Just let me know.
