My father had recommended I get myself a tobacco pipe and my grandfather always had one. So, today, I thought I would follow in their footsteps and get myself a pipe and some tobacco. I bought a corncob pipe which I know is cheap but it's good for someone like myself who's never even tried one before. I also bought myself a couple of pouches, Sir Walter Raleigh (my grandfathers favorite) and Borkum Riff Cherry Liqueur (it's made in Denmark, I can't pass that up). In addition I bought myself one of the mult-tools and some pipe cleaners.

So how many cigar smokers are also pipe smokers? Please give me some opinions on pipe smoking, favorite blends, pipes, times to smoke, and so on. I'm brand new to this enjoyment and I'm finding very little information on it and less people who partake in it. Thanks.

BTW, $13.50 for the pipe, tobacco, and cleaning materials is pretty good in my opinion. I'm used to spending $5-6 per cigar.

Welcome to a whole new area of tobacco enjoyment! Here are some resources:

http://www.glpease.com (far more than just a tobacco blender)

http://www.smokersforums.org (if they ever get their server problems worked out)

That should get you started!
All of that and look through the older posts here. The Pipe Room is full of good information, you just have to dig for it a little. For blend suggestion I look to the "What's in Your Pipe Today" thread. I've gotten a lot of really good suggestions there. Everything I've tried that was talked about positively in that thread has been quite good. Tobaccoreviews.com is great, but a lot of the reviews are a little out of date. Many blends change from time to time, so you do have to watch for that.

Oh yeah, the forum at knoxcigar.com is pretty full of info, too.

Good luck to you! Keep posting here. Eventually we'll all get this area of CP up to par with some of the others!
