It seems that this will be a significant hike, as of May 14, 2007 the new rates for Priority Mail (1 lb or less) will be $4.60, and the new Flat rate will be $9.15..

TIA

Maybe it's to offset cost of fuel used in the delivery trucks ???

I think the post office is getting a little out of hand. Stamps go up about $10 every year now and plus they're raising postage fees.

As Jeff Spicolli would say, "Dude totally Bogus!"

If you're buying stamps that go up $10 every year, you are getting screwed! ;)

I don't know, it's still a bargain. The other shipping companies charge a lot more. I don't like to see the increases (especially when they've automated much of the service), but it's still less than the other companies.

I've had less problems with USPS than with UPS, FedEx, and DHL. If you are a business that relies on shipping, the USPS may not be the best if you need guaranteed delivery times, but for general household use, it's the best deal in town in my mind.

X2, Fedex has been the worst for me. 2 out of 3 packages damaged, haven't used them since. Never had a problem with USPS, UPS is decent IMO too.
