Ok I have a question for CP, FOG, and fellow BOTL's ..... I noticed that most of you have a year by your cigars, is this the year you purchased or year boxed? What is the purpose of this?

The only conclusion I came up with is that every year yields a different batch of crop, and certain years are better then others...kind of like vintage wine. Hope this is not a stupid question.

Thanks
Mike

If one were speaking of Cuban cigars, this usually indicates the boxing date which is stamped on the bottom of every box. For example, 2006 SLR Regios. When speaking of non-Cubans, this usually indicates the year of purchase as few NC boxes are stamped with boxing date. Sometimes, however, you can still find that information (i.e. QC slips inside boxes of Padron). And some, such as Tatuaje brown label, do date stamp their cigars.
