Hey all,

The fiance is bringing me up to North Conway, NH for a nice birthday weeeknd this weekend. I'm thrilled, and I love the area, but one big problem...I've got a Padron 40th and a certain special ISOM just waiting for my birthday, but I can not seem to find anyplace that will allow me to smoke a cigar inside. There is one place , villagecigar, where I can smoke and have a beer, wine, or port, but I already spoke to them, and they would prefer me not smoke anything there I didn't buy there.
What do you folks think of this as far as etiquette...go in, buy a pricey stick ($12-15, maybe?) as my way of being a good customer, but then smoking the cigar I brought?
I know my local B&M, who I consider a friend, was always a little weird about anybody smoking anything that they didn't buy there in the shop. That included some guys who gave him a TON of business. he wouldn't throw you out, but he made it VERY clear he didn't like it.

Edit: Anybody know of anyplace else in/around the area that allows cigar smoking?

I hate being rude, and at the same time, I REALLY want to smoke my birthday cigars.
Any advice from you fine BOTLs would be greatly appreciated.

My best guess would be like you said buy a nice stick or two and just do the swap. You may even un band it if you’re a little wary of them. It’s not uncommon for a shop that doesn’t know you to say smoke here what you buy here. It’s just my since that they don’t want people loafing around and not buying anything there but if you make a decent purchase and smoke yours, your still abiding by the spirit of the thing.

Just my opinion.

If I owned a shop, I wouldn't mind a stranger coming in with his own cigar. Heck, he might decide to buy something anyway since he's gunna be in the shop for an hour or so. It's the guys who regularly come in with their own that would piss me off. Just my opinion...
