My other hobby
I just noticed this morning that the description under my name on the left of this post has changed at some point from "cp newbie" to "member"....and I've gone from 1 square to two. Wahooo! I ain't a newbie no mo'.
So what's left? I still have a lot to learn about cigars, that's for sure. I have been looking through my, just aquired, copy of the MRN book. Wow! I wish I had about 10 large to spend on some smokes to put away for my retirement. Ha, ha, ha.
I've traded, I've done the newbie trade, I've been bombed, I've posted a couple of reviews, I've been in a pass, I have a contest going (smoked #86 this weekend). I just switched to beads. I've got a coolidor. I've smoked a $20 cigar. I've herfed. I tossed a $13 cigar because it was awful. I smoked a power ranger and had to go lay down. ....So what's left. I could start my own pass. I want to do a buyers club. And I haven't had anybody call me an a$$hole yet....
Maybe I should start something with one of the FOGS. No offense to everyone else, but I want Sam Clemmons to give me what for. I mean, he's the best. In the middle of some huge flame war that I'm reading through, I come across his posts and I have actually laughed out loud. Plus, he is always right on the money in my opinion.
I've thought about telling Leebo that his avatar causes me some consternation because I often skim through CP at work...it's not very PC, but he's kind of sensitive about it and I don't want to hurt his feelings. :whistling:
I thought of many a smart comment about that Puro Indian Chief that Moki smoked on St. Patrick's day. But in the end, I was just in awe that he finished it without puking. I almost puked when I saw the picture of his tongue. Holy crap. Hats off to you, man.
I've stepped in it a little bit, but managed to get away without falling face first. Mostly that's been due to the wise council of folks here suggesting that a "wait and see" attitude is best. The folks that are all talk quickly fade.
I guess that's it for this morning.
BTW: #86 was my first Padron 1964 Anniv. It was a Torpedo that I got from CC86 in my first newbie swap last fall. I just smoked it. It started off kind of nasty. I took my time with it. By the 3rd or 4th puff, it was mellowing nicely. It was a mix of interesting flavors. The smoke was very thick and complex. The taste changed slightly over time. It was more like a good meal than a cigar. It was an excellent smoke. I spent almost 2 hours on it. My wife came out on the patio at one point and remarked that a good cigar is like a good woman. They can't be rushed and they like to have your full attention. She's a smart gal.
