My children and I went out for halloween and they came home with more than a 5 gallon bucket full of candy. So, now for some three days I have been raiding the stash after they go to bed.

For now my favorites are still old stand-by's, Almond Joy and Snickers. While many things have changed, those are the same as when I was bringing home pillow cases full of treats.

The guy across the street did give me a good cigar (short story) and perhaps that is my favorite treat, albeit my only one. The widow who lives one house down could be a real treat, but I had rehersed no trick, plus that is well inside the 350 mile imaginary barrier. Since we just moved it was the first time I actually met her and she is a very nice woman, in many ways.

What is the best stuff you have raided from your children's treat bag?

This is cracking me up. In Columbus, Ohio, we always say "What happens outside of 270 (our loop around the city) stays outside of 270. Interesting to what other statements go around.

A wise friend of mine once said "Never play away games at home". :D

While I was in the Army, the ole' saying was "What happens TDY (temporary duty) stays TDY. Even the female soldiers had the same train of thought which made things go a lot easier...... :D  :p

Back to the goody bag part of this thread......................

My kids came home and seperated all of their candy into piles:

1) Sour stuff - my kids love that pucker up stuff

2) licorice - my kids don't dig licorice too much, but as a last resort

3) candy bars - snickers, 3 muskateers, almond joy, etc.... (my wife raids this one)

4) sorry assed candy - candy corn, peppermints, etc....

5) dad's candy - sweet tarts, pez, jolly ranchers, juju bees, some selected gummy stuff, and the ever popular orange and black wax wrapped peanut butter flavored chewy things (man I love these). My wife hates the hard candy and thinks I am still a little kid when I eat these. I just tell her, "Well, thi slittle kid makes the house payment now doesn't he."

I've got about 1/2 of a 5 gallon bucket full of candy in my office that I can nab from when I get the itch.

And, as we seperate the candy, I do the obligatory searchof razor blades, rocks, opened/unwrapped stuff, fruit, cookies, etc.......To this day I've never found that razor blade or broken glass that we are always warned against.

Those are a favorite of mine as well. They aren't popular to pass out any more since they aren't really factory sealed. I can usually find a few stores that have them @ 50% and 75% off after Haloween though.

There is a similar, but chewier candy called a "Mary Janes" that I really love as well. I have a hard time finding them usually, but this year Wal Mart of all places had them so I picked up a couple of bags.
