Now Permanently in Cambridge

The more observant of you may have noticed that the location under my name has changed from "Ann Arbor, MI and Cambridge, MA" to simply "Cambridge, MA."

Indeed, I am officially living solely in Cambridge with no more constant commuting, which means I am now, for the first time since we have been married, living with my wife on a full-time basis.

This is good, for obvious reasons, but of course, the amount of cigars I can smoke is now quite limited, because she, for some unknown reason, doesn't like the room note of my Punch Rothschild. It is also quite unfortunate that there is no longer any smoking allowed at Leavitt and Pierce, as I really began to relish the pleasure that is hanging out at the tobacco shop at Maison Edwards in Ann Arbor (sorry, Peter, that we never got a chance to hang out there).

All of which is a roundabout way of saying, "Who here in the Cambridge area is up for a mini-herf at some point?"
 
The guys on CigarWise organize what they call "NERF" in the Boston area. I think they just had one but I'm pretty sure they get together at least twice a year. There's a thread here about it somewhere....

yep, CC, i was at the NERF V this year. had some fun and lots of smokes. prolly not too far from you schenker, churchills is right next ddor to fanuel hall on the durkin park side.
 
Ann Arbor sends its best wishes. And le Maison as well.

Also, now that you're in Cambridge, I'd like to impart a few words of Cambridge wisdom that I gleaned over my semester stay there.

1) Avoid the parks at late night. I learned this the hard way.
2) Don't touch the statue of John Harvard in the yard there, it's a popular urinal.
3) Don't wake the anarchists near the Harvard T-stop at 8am. They're aggressive and not particularly early risers.
4) Do enjoy the French fries at the Greenhouse Cafe near that same T-stop. They taste like fried chicken.
5) John Harvard's (the bar) has 1/2 off appetizers on Monday night after 10pm (at least they did). The nachos are delicious, cheesy and like $3.
6) This goes for all 711s, don't you dare eat the hot dogs, no matter how bad your munchies and how good it may look.

Have a good time. The fireworks from the Boston Commons or the banks of the Charles on July 4 would be a spectacular sight to smoke a cigar to.
 
<Sigh> Well, that didn't last long. After what was the most traumatic and awful summer of my life, I find myself back in Ann Arbor, permanently, and alone. :(

This coming Sunday would have been my 1 year anniversary.

Sorry I haven't been posting much here...Once I began pipe smoking and realized how much money I've been spending on cigars, I pretty much keep cigar smoking to a special occasion thing.
 
Sounds like a rough stretch of road you've been over...sorry to hear that.

"Permanent" is an illusion though, for the good, and the not so good. It may not look like it now, but the joy in life balances out the sadness very well.
