now that vinotemps are gone

now that target has discontinued the vinotemp has anyone tried any of the other wine coolers and can you recommend another brand?
 
Basically all you need is something with a good seal and is thermo-electric. Vino-temp just happened to be brand that was readily found at a fair price. Any other brand would probably do the same.

Actually you can still buy a vinotemp for $199.00 with free shipping direct from them it seems....check out their website.

There's a bunch of different ones but the 28 bottle one is still $199.00. Whether that's worth it or not is personal opinion I guess.

On the flip side haier makes some good ones that people have used as well. Like Breedy said, Thermoelectric...good seal... :thumbs: :thumbs:
 
I have been running this (linky) now for a little while with no problems, good luck with your search. This is getting pretty full lately but I know I still have room for at least another year ( I Hope ) :whistling:
 
thanks that might work. so you just keep it at 65/65 and no problems with it? did you add shelves and drawers?
 
Yeah I was looking into doing a wine cooler project myself. Now tell me in2xshp, is that Haier a thermo-electric? I was looking into getting one of those, but I never saw if they were or not. And I was under the impression that if its not that it will suck the humidity out. But it seems to be working for you. How much did the 42 count cost?

Just a note...I saw vinotemps on sale at the best buy near my work for $109 down from $150. Not sure of the size, seem smaller than the pic here, but still might be a place to check!

I think it is just fine. Another site said:

That's a little cooler than the Vino, but still fine. I like the locking feature. The fact that it is the same price, same size, same features is nice. Vinotemps are not the be all end all. I have 2 and one works great, the other is a piece of crap. I had 2 others I took back because they damage so easily. I recommend venturing out.

P.S. Go bigger!
 
Oh yeah!! I won a 28 bottle Vinotemp on Ebay for $90. Its not a huge steal like some other guys found (especially since its used) but I'll take it. Based on what I saw in my search results, I am going to go with 3 drawers and 5 shelves from our resident Vinotemp retrofitter (Mtmouse aka Tim). Not sure how I am going to pay for cigars to fill it by the time its all said and done but we addicts always find a way. Besides cigars are a journey and not a race. So I have plenty of time to get some good stuff in there!
 
I need to build me one of these. This is such a great idea. I've read the other posts throughout the year, but I think I'm going to pull the trigger now.
 
Costco usually has a few vinotemps in the store, also, they have some "cabinet" type vinotemps on the website

ETA: I hadn't noticed until I really looked, but on the above link there is a Vinotemp CIGAR HUMIDOR with thermo-electric cooling. I guess they're on to the plan guys!
 
Its here...its here! I just pick up my 28 bottle vinotemp today that I purchased on craig's list and its beautiful. Apparently the guy I purchased it from is a wine guy and upgraded to the bigger unit after a trip to California. He said he returned with 2 cases of wine and the 28 bottle unit wasn't big enough. So i start telling him my plans for my unit. He just stood there puzzled for a minute and then say "oh really...uhh okay". Well hell I HAVE a "wine cooler". I NEEDED a 28 bottle vinotemp cigar storage unit. Away all is well...my little baby is safe at home. I just need to get my shelves done and I'll be ready to go. Lets just call it a "Christmas gift to me".
