I'm not going to get into a pising match with you idiots but try muscling one of those cars around for 4 hours and let me know how you feel when you get out.

Frankly I like "all they do is turn left" better.

It's true. All they do is turn left. :laugh: :p Be interesting to see how these guys would do in a real motorsport like F1. :sign: ;)

again ignorance rears it's ugly head.

They do race on road courses twice a year. Once at Watkin's Glen and once at Infeneon Raceway in California. The best road racers like Jeff Gordon, Tony Stewart, and I ate to say it, Robby Gordon, are often the class of the field. It's true that turning left AND right while going up and down hills is a whole new ballgame. So the field is definitely whittled down and there are really only a handful of regular NASCAR drivers that could really handle that kind of racing. As far as how they would do in F1, it's impossible to say until one makes the jump, which will never happen.

Also interesting to note is that for the road course races there are often "road race ringers" brought in like Boris Said, who often are out duking it up at the top. However the regulars still seem to win.

While it's a nice change of pace, technical prowess isn't really what NASCAR is all about. It's more about aggression.

Name another motorsport where the cars can actually touch going into a corner and still be competitive. Or a guy can take a wild ride through the grassy infield and still win the race. Or when the bumpers of the car in victory lane are partially caved in and there are big "donuts" on the sides of the car from getting a little too close to the next car down.

THAT's what NASCAR is all about.

Since it wasn't clear to you, I was JOKING. Boy, some people take this Nascar thing WAY too seriously.

This is sort of my point. There isn't another motor sport where cars touch, bump, etc. and still remain in the race. And, if a guy can take a "wild ride through the grassy infield" and still win, what does that say about the quality of the racing? That happens in F1 or Indy, you're done. Period. Make a mistake and the race is over for you. In Nascar, you make a mistake, start from 30th, etc. you can still win. That's lame IMO. Hey, to each his own. I don't like watching Nascar because I find it boring (except when there are 20 car pile-ups).
 
Personally I like NASCAR, F1 and Indy. Went to a NASCAR race this past weekend, was a lot of fun. The speedway is only 10 min from my house. :)
 
Well - I'd love to watch open wheel racing (and I USED to be a big fan), but I CAN'T anymore (IRL and CART destroyed the game)!!! And F-1 are a bunch of whiners... Which leaves good ol' NASCAR...

I actually knew a young driver who had the pleasure of racing a Indy Car and then a stock car. He said it was like going from a Lamborghini to a Chev Suburban... I really liked that analogy!

I love seeing the bumping and grinding that goes on in NASCAR - and you don't see the hatred some of the fans show to some of the drivers in NASCAR (all in good fun, though)...

I've done the last 5 Brickyard races, and I plan on continuing to go as long as I can!!!
