President Obama has loosened travel for families of Cuban decent and is now allowing $2000 that the families can take with them when they visit. Also a group of congressional represenitives has been there since last Friday for talks between the two countries. With a chosen few traveling to Cuba there seems as though there might be a chance of travel to be opened up to more people. I have to believe that Cuba could use some modernization for most of it's infrastructure. Hope upon hope!

It could not happen fast enough. I was clearing customs in Bagram yesterday and a Major I'm traveling with lost a box of Montecristos to the amnesty box. I only had one Cohiba on me and was allowed to light it up while waiting to depart. The Major distributed a few to some of our traveling companions but the end result was 23 fine Cuban cigars in the bottom of a dusty bin!

Being a military man, there is quite a bit of foreign policy that has a direct impact on me and my lifestyle. But honestly, this is the one that I watch with the greatest amount of hope. We need to move faster on this bit.

Cheers,

Tony

It can only be good for the people of Cuba to see an influx of US dollars, goods, and tourists. I hope it happens soon . . . they've suffered long enough.
