I stopped by one of the very few places near me that sells Glen Breton Rare (which they are STILL out of) and the owner recommended the Oban 14YO to me so I said, "Okay, I'll take a bottle." It was around $53.00.
I just sampled it earlier this evening and it was pretty good BUT as I just mentioned in another thread, my all time favorite single malt is still the Glenfiddich Gran Reserva.
The Oban smells peaty to me and the body seems full or rich. I honestly don't know WTF I'm talking about since I'm very new to single malts so please bear with me. I thought it was pretty smooth compared to some of the less expensive (Glenlivet 12YO) that I've tried before.
I "liked" it but as AVB mentioned to me a while back, I've "set the bar pretty high" with my love of the Gran Reserva
so it's very hard for me personally to find something comparable to that!
