Definitely is a good alternative for self defense if someone doesn't want to carry a firearm or the state they live in won't. It is CERTAINLY better then nothing imo. Also OC spray doesn't affect everyone the same. I was sprayed it was the worst thing of my life but I was still able to fight through it and take someone down. An assailant altered by drugs or alcohol may be able to power through the effects even more.

Yeah, we watched one of the guys in our class get sprayed, open his eyes, lick his lips, and ask, "Is that it?" We were pissed at him for the rest of the academy, LOL. :sign:
