I use to change the oil in my 328Ci every 7500 miles just to be on the safe side. Sure everything else fell apart after 6 years but the engine was still good.

I usually always go 5000 miles, with regular 5w 20 in my 08 Altima.

I drive 300 miles per month, average. The weather here can range from -30 to 110 plus. I change the oil every 3,000 miles. I consider it cheap insurance.
