I was stupid. Plain and simple.

Was doing the yearly inventory on Monday. Was up on the roll around stairs minding my own business, counting aircraft parts and enjoying the peace and quiet.

Started to step down to the next row and I dropped my clipboard. Now the idiot reaction kicks in and I make a grab for said clipboard. I manage to get hold of it, but in the meantime I am now doing a strange balancing act on the stairs, half on one step and half on another. I did not fall, but the gyrations were enough to yank a muscle on my lower rib pretty hard as well as a twisted ankle during my landing.

Got another visit to the doctor today to decide if he will let me back to work or give me a week off to recover. I want to go back to work, but I just tried to do some laundry and it was nearly too much for me. Really do not want to be stuck at home watching daytime TV, but if I lie to the doc and get sent back to work, I may really do some damage.

Just shoot me now.

We've all been there. It is insinctual to do this type of stuff. Thankfully you did not fall as it could have been much worse. I was once helping my old man build a rock wall and saw a 150+ pound boulder slipping and decided to try and stop it with my left hand. Yup I stopped it alright and also stopped the feeling in my finger tips for a few months too. :-)

Anyway best wishes on a speedy recovery.

Hey at least you got the feeling back. The table saw I had a run-in with wasn't so kind.

Good luck with the healing. It's hard not to go back too soon, but it can cause more damage than the initial injury at times.

:)

Man, sorry to hear this has happened, especially with your box pass getting nearer to going home!

Sounds like you need "light duty" at work for a week or so? What muscle did you pull in your rib? Teres major/minor? Subscapular? Painful.

Hope you are feeling better soon. On the positive side, you might have a bit more time available to enjoy some quality smokes

Cheers,
antaean

Sorry to hear about this B. Wish you a speedy recovery bro. I feel for you but it might be better to rest up than returning to work and hurting all day.

I did that once, got paid time off and had all sorts of time to play cards and smoke, never did regain feeling in my finger tip. Just think of it as a blessing in disguise, regardless I hope you have a speedy recovery and tivo.
