Ok here’s the thing, everything has venerability’s. Regardless of who makes it there will always be a way to abuse software, unfortunate but true. The reason internet explorers are more out in the open is because everyone uses it. If the trend continues to switch to firefox/mozilla people will develop things to abuse that software too, the second the masses shift the target dose too.

Spy bot's Tea Timer will help IE.
I use AVG and Ewido on my w2k3 box and wife's xp laptop as well.
All my boxen is linux/freebsd.

Firefox is a must for me and had a hard time getting the wife used to it and a friend.

Moral of the story - update regularly ALL software that touches the Internet (Operating Systems, Internet Browsers, Virus Software, Spyware cleaners, etc.)

I hate it when I am at work or at some other place that doesn't have Firefox and doesn't have the ability to download it and install it. I am so used to the functions of Firefox that IE just sucks anymore...

You can run Firefox from a USB drive using Portable Firefox- it's a little slower, but works well.

To be fair, if you had all the latest patches installed with IE, you would not have been infected.

I'm on IE and had my Norton AV up-to-date, and wasn't infected. :thumbs:
