Online Gambling about to become illegal

I thought that the WWW part stood for World Wide Web. How does any country have the right to legislate over it?
 
Still, without discussing the merits of gambling as there
will always be those for and against, it is decided
for us where we can and cannot spend our money.

In the mid 1960s I believe, there was a guy who started either a horse-betting or sports betting service over the phone. The gov't made a law that said remote betting over phone lines was illegal. This is the law that is being cited as a precident for action. Now that we know what the method is, we all know that the motivation is money, just like all other politics. The servers for these gambling sites are not in the US, therefore, the US government cannot tax them. Simple as that.
