Open letter to CP

Thanks for your insight George but I wasn't saying "look how well it worked for them", rather pointing out what a simplistic and agreeable credo they put forth.

You are right - it sure is "simplistic" and "agreeable", but there also is a significant segment of that community ignoring the credo...

All is not lost, though - I've come to learn that a nicely placed sledgehammer blow most times "readjusts" the frame for that significant segment...

Happy New Year Todd!

I vote for Neal, Bill, Matt, & Kirk as Mods. Might as well make them do something useful around here. :sign:

Rod,

Thank you for all your effort. Your vision is one I will strive to respect and be accountable to. I will make every effort to ensure that my posts add value and are considerate of the members and visitors to this fine community. I pray that this community remain strong, free from the trappings of other Cigar communities where those who moderate suffer from god-complexes and the like.

Best regards to you and yours for 2009 and beyond.

Thanks much Rod, for my daily fix of CP, much appreciated!

First of all, I hope no one minds my bumping of this thread, but I personally found Rod's letter to be very informative & a good reminder of the effort a forum owner puts into their site & the benefits we as members reap gratis. Perhaps others joining since 1/09 may benefit from reading this as well. Hopefully the new members who truly wish this community the best & have no desire to upset the balance will prove to outweigh the others. I also want to thank Rod & all of CP for the knowledge I have gleaned here.

Do know that - like a hairy, clumsy caterpillar consumes enough food for storage & eventually changes into a nimble, beautiful & wise butterfly (butterfiles are wise, right?) - many of us have feeble dreams of collecting enough information in order to someday shed our FNG cocoon & transform into a colorful & dexterous FOG.

As it comes to pass in the Animal Kingdom, not all caterpillars survive to become butterflies unless they are diligent & respectful of the laws of nature. So too, must we respect the rules that exist for the benefit of our community as a whole.

Because I like metaphors & want to post the picture below:

Let us all heed the call of the leaf & let the brotherhood it inspires be our guiding light upon the treacherous shoals of the interwebs!

But I'm just a fresh larva, what do I know? :)

Perhaps you're correct. I'll also go ahead and suggest that you read Twain to learn a little something about metaphoric construction.

Here's hoping that the corniness was intended as it seems,

Mark
