what is the ideal room Temperature for a humidor box to be in? is it affected by it significantly?

I keep mine as close to 70 degrees as possible. Much higher you can run into beetle eggs hatching which ruins cigars in a hurry.

Basically, you will want your humi in a spot that stays below 70 if possible. The humi will acclement to the temp of the room, and we don't like those nasty little beetles. If you keep your TStat higher than 70, I recommend feeling your way through the house and finding the coolest place.

It all depends on what you are trying to do with your cigars. If you are trying to age them for 20 years, I would suggest a pretty low temperature. Say maybe 55F. If you have some cigars that aren't tasting right, put them in a large humidor and let it get up as high as 75 degrees. Yeah it is high, but if you are freezing your cigars as they arrive, then your chances of a bettle outbreak are minimal. The higher temp will allow the ammonia to dissapte faster. But keep the cigars that are sick in their own large container. This way if a beetle does hatch, it doesn't clean you out. That's my 2 cents.
