Growing too fast.
Even with a nice breeze blowing, it’s still hot as hades out with the temperature right at 98F in the shade. The wife and baby girl decided to take a dip in the pool, which the water isn’t cool at all, but more like a warm bath, but still with the breeze it is nice enough. I grabbed the Padron Anni 64 Diplo I received from my good buddy Jimmy (Jimmyhaze) right at one year ago and got as comfortable as I could in one of the chairs under the shade of the patio umbrella. The cigar seems huge in the hand with a dark maduro wrapper with noticeable tooth throughout and oils that glisten in the sunlight. It has a hefty weight to it, is very firm when squeezed, and with the cap punched I find an absolute perfect draw with taste of sweet, mature tobacco.
I torch the foot and blow on the embers until it’s covered with glowing orange embers, take a couple quick puffs and let it rest for a bit. My first draw was amazing with perfect mild spice and medium strength smoke that seemed oily on the palate. Flavors were incredibly rich with tastes of sweet cocoa and leather that lasted long in the finish.
The burn was sharp through the first quarter with noticeable tooth in the dull gray ash that held strong until tapped off. Medium strength smoke flowed well through the perfect draw, with spice hitting the tongue and throat just right. I can’t begin to describe how rich and delicious the flavors were, tastes of cocoa and leather with an incredible finish that lasted long after exhaling.
The rest of the cigar was consistent as the first part with razor sharp burn, perfect draw, and rich, straightforward tobacco flavor that had a hint of sweetness leaving an incredibly wonderful finish on the palate. This was a downright amazing cigar that I have got to get more of. Thanks Jimmy for sending such an excellent smoke!
