Growing too fast.
It’s been a very long week, and am glad it’s finally Friday, very much looking forward to a couple of days off. I’m relaxing this evening with a Padron Exclusivo Natural with a Colorado shade wrapper that doesn’t seem to have much, if any, oiliness to it and minimal veins. The cigar is box shaped, firm when squeezed, and slightly light in the hand, and I’m hoping it doesn’t mean a loose draw. I punch the cap and find the draw a little on the loose side, but not too bad.
With fire to the foot, my first draw reveals a nice white pepper spice on the back of the throat with a nice sweetness coming through in the medium bodied smoke. I’m getting some cocoa taste as well as toasted nuts and a hint of woodiness while exhaling through the mouth and nose.
The burn is sharp with a strong medium gray ash forming, and the draw is just right, allowing good, medium-bodied smoke to flow freely. I continue to get the spiciness with a really nice sweetness coming through and a superb finish on the palate that is lasting. Tastes are quite consistent through the first half, delicious.
Going into the last half, I’m totally relaxed sitting on the back porch with my animules hanging out with me. It’s cloudy out and fairly cool, so a very nice evening. The Cicadas are really singing in the trees, must be dozens of them to make that much “music”. I’m taking slow, long draws off the Padron every few minutes, thoroughly enjoying the perfect spice and deliciously rich flavors coming through in what seems to now be a medium to full bodied smoke. The finish is fantastic, long and lasting on the palate.
What an enjoyable smoke with a perfect burn, spot on draw, rich flavors, and excellent finish. I believe I could lay my head back, close my eyes, and drift right off to sleep. Much like the dog and cat have already done. Ah but dinner awaits and then the comfy couch will be calling to me. Of course, quality time with the baby girl will be in order. Sounds like a good evening. Hope everyone has a fantastic weekend!
